Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Priya jadi ná elo[nb 2] phire
Kiser tare ámi kár tare thákbo ghare
Ákásh vátás bhinna kare' graha tannatanna kare'
Ańur májhe khuṋjbo táre

Khuṋjbo táre niihárikáy
Khuṋjbo shasháuṋka tárakáy
Khuṋje' khuṋje' dúr alakáy
Ánbo dhare'

Thákte dúre náhi páre
Khuṋjbo maneri kandare
Bhálabásáy páboi táre
Áṋdhár páre

If the Beloved did not come afresh,
For Whose sake am I, for Whom will I stay resident?
Air and sky estranged, ransacked is a planet;
Amid molecule, for Whom will I quest.

I'll look for Him in nebula;
I'll search in moon and star.
Ever seeking in heaven afar,
Having caught, I will fetch.

At a distance He can't dwell;
My mental cavern I'll inspect.
By love, Himself I'll surely get
On the other shore of darkness.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ All of the published Bangla source reads ele and not elo. However, in the raw audio rendition (recorded just after the song was dictated), elo is sung. In context, elo makes more sense.
